EgoLiveserver
Separation of staging server (editorial server) and live servers
The EgoLiveserver is responsible for separation between editing system and live system. Maintenance is carried out in the editing system, system alignment can be selected by time interval or manually. Content output to the live servers can be carried out statically or dynamically.
Both operating types (static and dynamic) are developed for high performance. Database access is minimised by an intelligent caching system in EGOTEC. After first demand of the site by a user it will be filed in the cache as a static page, the second user demanding the page gets the page directly from the cache. Therefore, page load is reduced to a minimum even in peak times as dynamic generation of pages is no longer necessary. Several million hits per month are therefore possible without high hardware or hosting requirements (e.g. University of Jena with 9 million hits per month with a Pentium III 1000 Mhz, 512 MB Ram).
Especially dynamic operation offers crucial advantages:
- performance such as static generation
- data transmission by per http or SSL-encrypted by https
- dynamic functions such as newsletter, forum etc. are available without limitation
- all modules allow sectional alignment of editing and live server
- low data transmission volume between editing and live server as only the difference between the two systems is replicated
- optimal search engines indication even in dynamic operation as EGOTEC produces pronounceable URLs
