The University of Applied Sciences of Schmalkalden decides for EGOTEC.

The University of Applied Sciences of Schmalkalden is one of the "small" universities, however with excellent studying conditions, which have been approved in diverse university-rankings. So the southern Thuringian University of Applied Sciences regularly achieves top positions in the rankings of Stern (German magazine) and Stiftung Warentest (leading German consumer safety group). The faculties of Economics and InformationTechnology even have the most satisfied students nationwide. To upgrade the student's service for the 2,600 students and ensure actuality and quality in doing so, it was decided to employ an efficient Content Management System.

After a three-months phase of research and evaluation four products achieved the final selection. Hereby, EGOTEC could prevail because of its simple handling and the attractive price-performance ratio. Other systems were partly "rather bulky" to handle, was the opinion of many employees commissioned with the editorial work of the contents.

The employees of the University of Applied Sciences of Schmalkalden were also impressed by the smooth running during the introduction of EGOTEC at the University of Jena, Thuringia. Here, the responsible project manager at the University of Jena could give valuable advice relevant to how the organisation of an introduction like that can take place.

In a first step, up to 50 editors will work with the system whereas the expansion to the unlimited user's licence with an extension of modules is scheduled.

By its flexible and modular structure, its platform, operating system and browser-independence, EGOTEC offers optimally integrated solutions for colleges and universities. EGOTEC is delivered completely in the PHP source code, extensions can be accomplished with the API itself. By this, a combination of flexibility and extensibility of open-source-solutions is achieved and the disadvantages involved, such as insufficient documentation and a lack of producer support, are prevented.
