Every year, more than 250,000 patients are treated at the 26 speciality hospitals as inpatients and outpatients.
1,900 medical and dental medicine students are trained in the art of healing, at 25 institutes scientists from more than 25 nations do research for further medical development.

The University Hospital of Jena website serves as a central information pool for anyone who wishes to get information about the services of the university hospital. It provides information for patients, students, doctors and those who are interested in research. Due to the diversity of services offered, many small "information islands" were created so that each institute and each hospital maintained its own presence. This resulted in the fact that the Internet presence was inconsistent. Each department had its own website with its own design, own navigation and own database. The population of content caused a maintenance expenditure that was classified as very high at the end.

The data processing centre of the university hospital was commissioned to search for an integrated solution that will be provided by the data processing centre to all hospital departments as a central platform. The objective was to ensure an optically consistent appearance and a future-proof technology that can be administered immediately from the data processing centre. The decision was made in favour of a Content Management System.
