City of Luxembourg

The City of Luxembourg uses EGOTEC for multilingual content management.

With more than 80,000 inhabitants, the City of Luxembourg has almost 20 % of the total population of the Grand Duchy Luxembourg. Due to a percentage of foreign nationals of more than 59 % with different languages, high demands are made on the administrative bodies' communication skills.

To fulfil such demand efficiently nowadays, the city government decided to use a content management system that will be used city-comprehensive in all Internet presences.

In the scope of a public tender, the comprehensive requirements were defined and 10 systems were put through their paces. After that, the 3 most promising candidates (documentum, jahia, EGOTEC) had to execute defined operations within one day so that the future users were able to get an idea of the operation. EGOTECs bid was accepted due to its very good suitability for the municipal area. Besides the most simple handling and the municipality-specific modules already existing, the optimal extensibility by City of Luxembourg staff was crucial for the decision.

The intuitive operation for the daily editing work with EGOTEC goes so far that the training expenditure is reduced to a minimum. This leads to extremely short familiarisation periods as employees are able to create the articles in their usual environment (e.g. Word, Excel) and transfer them into EGOTEC by a mouse click. Editing within EGOTEC is done analogously to the known Windows programmes so that acceptance by employees is guaranteed. The staff are happy working with this system and they enjoy taking care of content topicality.

By the end of the year 2004, the central presence http://www.vdl.lu was converted to EGOTEC technology as a first step.
