Reis Robotics opts for Enterprise Content Management in the Intranet

Reis Robotics is one of the leading robot technology system integrators in Europe and has more than 900 employees world-wide. Reis Robotics deals with all divisions of robot technology: development, engineering, manufacture, application, programming and certainly the entire customer support.

The data amount in the Intranet has continuously increased during the past few years and document retrieval has become more and more difficult. In a first step, the Intranet is to be newly organised regarding data filing of CAD data, in particular, it is supposed to result in a workflow improvement. So far, data has been compiled and delivered according to employee enquiries.

In the new Intranet the individual departments will be responsible themselves for keeping the data up-to-date, i.e., a central portal is designed which ensures that each employee has direct access to information relevant to him.

The CAD data provided for the Intranet should then also automatically provide the Internet with simplified robot models in order to also offer the Internet users added value regarding information. In contrast to that, the detailed models contain sensitive data which are only provided to Reis Robotics' employees via the employees' portal.

Already since 2003, Reis Robotics has managed its Internet presence by EGOTEC Content Management Server. Due to the positive experience of Reis Robotics with EGOTEC, the Intranet solution will also be based on EGOTEC.

Population of documents (PDF, ZIP) provided for download is absolutely simple. With their Windows Explorer editors work directly on the EGOTEC 4 media database via WebDAV interface. According to their access rights they are able to take over documents from the file system into EGOTEC by drag & drop.

Further project requirements are solved by collaboration of the modules Client and Live server. Due to the Client module it is possible to run the Intranet project parallel to the Internet on the same editing server at reasonable cost. Alignment of editing and live server ensures that the live server only provides publicly accessible information.

Intranet content itself is only accessible directly via the editing server in the internal network.
EGOTEC has been proven in practice many times in the Intranet and Internet of medium-sized and large companies. EGOTEC is delivered completely in PHP source code and convinces by its simple handling and flexible opportunities for extension.
